Biography:

Brian Martz is instructor of low brass instruments and musicianship (an expanded concept of music theory) at UWSP. In addition to his degrees from the I.U. Jacobs School of Music, he was also awarded a Performer’s Certificate for excellence as a soloist.

He has performed as principal trombonist with the National Symphony Orchestra of Per�, in Lima, Per�, and with community orchestras in Indianapolis, Indiana, Bloomington, Indiana, and Wausau, Wisconsin. He is currently principal trombonist with the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra, located in Stevens Point. He has appeared as soloist with the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra and the Wausau Symphony and Symphonic Band. Also an experienced jazz and commercial musician, Mr. Martz has toured nationally as lead trombonist with Henry Mancini, Johnny Mathis, Glen Campbell and others and was a successful freelance trombonist in the Indianapolis, Indiana area, playing shows and working in the commercial recording studios before moving to central Wisconsin.

Mr. Martz’s teaching credits include Indiana State University, Iowa State University and the National School of Music in Lima, Per�. At UWSP Mr. Martz teaches and performs on trombone, euphonium and tuba. He is also a certified Alexander Technique teacher.
