Biography:

Brendan Caldwell is currently serving as Interim Director of Bands for the University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point where he conducts the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band and teaches courses in conducting and music education. Mr. Caldwell’s prior teaching appointments include a two-year residency at the University of Dayton (Ohio) where he served on the conducting faculty and at Lee High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he served as Director of Bands for four years. Caldwell’s education has taken him across the country starting in Alexandria, Virginia, where he attended Bishop Ireton High School with the world renown conductor and educator Dr. Garwood Whaley. He then attended LSU receiving a degree in music education, University of Colorado where he earned a Masters degree in instrumental conducting and finally the University of Minnesota where he is finishing doctoral work in conducting.

Brendan Caldwell has been active as a clinician and adjudicator for over a decade and continues to guest conduct and speak throughout the country on topics ranging from music education to youth leadership. Caldwell has received high praise from composers ranging from Alfred Reed to George Crumb and recently presented at the Hawaii International Conference on Arts and Humanities on the wind works of Pulitzer Prize winning composers. Caldwell’s esteemed teachers include Craig Kirchhoff, Allan McMurray, James Byo, and Frank Wickes.
