Curriculum

Before specializing in one or more of the three certification areas, students explore the field of music education by taking an overview introductory course which includes observation and reflection of music classes in schools. The opportunity to apply for official acceptance to the program follows this exploratory class. Students who meet qualifications then begin the journey toward becoming a professional music educator. The program includes field experiences in the schools as well as practical experience through peer teaching as part of each methods class.

Career Opportunities

Students who achieve a Wisconsin license for teaching music have unlimited career opportunities across the United States. Recent graduates of the program are teaching music in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Florida, Texas, Arizona, and Nevada. Whether students wish to stay in Wisconsin or experience another area, a degree in Music Education offers the opportunity.
