AIRO is the oldest Native American student organization on campus, established by Native American students
attending UW-SP in 1969.  This organization meets regularly, and historically has been involved with promoting
Native American student concerns on campus.  In addition, AIRO assists with organizing academic, social, and
culturally-focused events and activities on behalf of all students.  Major AIRO activities include coordination and
planning for "Native American Awareness Week" that culminates with the AIRO Pow-wow, which has become
an annual tradition at UWSP.
