Mathmatics Placement Exam

The mathematics placement test is given to all new freshmen as they enter the university. The test covers the material found in the usual four-year high school mathematics program (two years of algebra, geometry, and precalculus) and the scoring varies according to the amount of mathematics you have taken. The test results are used to place you at the appropriate level of mathematics at UW-Stevens Point.

At some of these levels you will be able to choose from several courses after examining their prerequisites. If you did not take the test at the time you entered the university, you may arrange for it at the department office.
For more details about the placement, read:

How to Take The Test

The department always offers the mathematics placement exam the first 2 evenings at the beginning of the fall and spring semester. These are at 6 pm with the date and room to be scheduled.

We also offer the exam periodically throughout the semester. The date and time will be posted on the office door, B246 Science Building, and is also available at 346-2120 on the Department voice-mail answering machine. Upcoming exam times are also shown on the scrolling banner at the top of this page, but you may need to refresh your cache to have the most recent notification displayed.

You do not need to sign up for the exam. You just show up to the room.

If you would like to take the exam prior to our next scheduled one, contact Testing Services in Delzell Hall, 346-4472. Please ask for Kim.
