This page is intended to provide helpful information for teachers and players of the revolutionary war game - a game which will help students learn about war, history, writing, art and probability. This game was developed by George Weir, Nathan Wetzel and George Kung.

The details were presented at the NCTM meeting on April 23, 1999. Here is the handout for this talk. and a few selected overheads. Details regarding the overheads are included below.

Each participant is required to write a will. Here is a a boilerplate will and a sample which may help them. Also below find a few web resources containing the text from real wills from the revolutionary war era.

Each students makes figurines for the soldiers for which they are responsible. Premade figurines are availible from retailers for about $1 each. We encourage students to make their own. The students enjoy putting on their 'uniform' whenever the battles are being reenacted. A 'three corner' hat can be made using the directions in this graphic. The following links give some details on uniforms of the day.

An enlistment plea went out to all colonists at various times during the war. This plea often took the form of a notice posted in a public place. This is a portion of the text posted soon after the Battle of Lexington/ Concord.

After a battle has been fought the student in charge of the coroner / undertaker must write a death certificate and the student in charge of the soldier must inform the next of kin. Here are a sample containing death documents
