What Am I Searching?

In the coming months, we will be rolling out a new primary search interface, Search@UW. The new product will combine what have historically been separate search venues in a single site. You will eventually be able to simultaneously search article databases, books & media shelved in the UW Library System, course reserve materials, and digital collections. Our goal is to make your search experience faster and easier.

This site is still under construction and has not been fully configured. Changes will continue throughout the semester. See table below for forthcoming enhancements.

What Am I Missing?

Not much! Search@UW includes 100% of the top 10,000 journals (as measured by popularity) and 93% of the top 45,000 journals. Based on a study of click throughs, 99.25% of the requests are for articles published in journals that are included.

When not to use Search@UW:

  • Very current events (updated more slowly than individual research databases)
  • Regional, state and local newspapers
  • Historical New York Times
  • Specialized non-article/book databases (Naxos Music Library, Hoovers, Mental Measurements Yearbook)

You can also access additional databases directly through our Databases by Subject list.
