Remote Desktop - Windows 7 or Windows Vista

  1. Go to Start - All Programs - Accessories and select Remote Desktop Connection.

  2. Enter your UWSP Computer name and then select Options.
    • Visit the General FAQ page for instructions on how to find a UWSP computer name.  
    • If you are off campus, follow your computer name with .uwsp.edu (ex. spointer.uwsp.edu).


  3. Click the Advanced tab.

  4. Click Settings…

  5. Windows 7: Select "Use these RD Gateway server settings" and for the Server name type in remotedesktop.uwsp.edu.  Then check the boxes for "Bypass RD Gateway server for local addresses" and "Use my RD Gateway credentials for the remote computer".
    Windows Vista: Select "Use these TS Gateway server settings" and for the Server name type in remotedesktop.uwsp.edu.  Then check the boxes for "Bypass RTS Gateway server for local addresses" and "Use my TS Gateway credentials for the remote computer".


  6. Click OK for the RD or TS Gateway Server Settings.
  7. Click Connect for the Remote Desktop Connection.
  8. Enter your UWSP username@uwsp.edu and your UWSP password and click OK.

     
  9. Click Yes, if you receive a warning notice that indicates "The identity of the remote computer cannot be verified. Do you want to connect anyway?"

    To prevent this prompt from occurring again check the box next to "Don't ask me again for connections to this computer"

You are now remote connected to your computer.
