Telephone Charges & Billing Information

Account Number/Authorization Code
Your telephone account number is your student ID number.  An Authorization Code is a 7-digit number used to bill calls directly to your account.  If you use the code, you will receive a monthly bill, payable directly to the Telephone Support Office.  To obtain a code, stop by the Telephone Support Office, or call (715) 346-2562.

Telephone Bill
Telephone bills are processed during the first business week of each month and due on the last business day of each month.  Bills are sent to your UWSP email account, or the information provided on the Authorization Code Application.  Failure to receive a bill is not basis for non-payment.

 Faculty/Staff

All calls placed from UWSP telephones are billed to specific department accounts.  Each month, the department's responsible person receives a summary of call charges.  Faculty and staff have the option of making essential personal telephone calls using a seven-digit authorization code.

Personal Authorization Code
A personal authorization code allows you to place calls from anywhere on campus and have the charges billed directly to a personal telephone account.  Calls placed using this code will NOT appear on your department's monthly accounting summary.  The authorization code is assigned to your UWSP identification number.  You will receive a monthly telephone bill through your UWSP email account.  To obtain a code, stop by the Telephone Support Office, or call (715) 346-2562.

Administrative Authorization Code
The Telephone Support Office can assign a 7-digit authorization code to a specific UWSP account. It allows you to place business calls from any location on campus and have the charges billed directly to your department account. The code allows you to dial direct anywhere in the world.  An administrative code is useful when placing conference calls from different buildings on campus.  Most conference rooms have restricted telephones which require the use of an authorization code.

Administrative Telephone Bill
All administrative telephone bills are processed the first business day of each month. The charges are automatically transferred from your designated six-digit UWSP department account. The responsible person, or designee, for each account receives a detailed summary of all telephone charges for the account each month. If you have any questions regarding admin billing, call the Telephone Support Office at 715-346-2562.

Personal Telephone Bill
You will only receive a telephone bill if you have cellular service, or if you use your 7-digit authorization code to make personal calls or send personal faxes. If you do not use your code, you will not get charged for telephone service. Telephone bills are processed during the first business week of each month. Failure to receive a bill is not basis for non-payment. If you have any billing questions, or a dispute, call the Telephone Support Office at 715-346-2562.

Authorization Code Responsibility
If your code has been lost, stolen, or you no longer wish to use it, you must notify the Telephone Support Office.  By obtaining an authorization code, you accept full responsibility for all charges until your code is cancelled. Treat the auth code like a credit card. Keep it in a secure location. DO NOT share it with anyone.

Bill Payment - How do I pay my telephone bill?
Acceptable methods of payment include: cash, check, credit card/web check, money order, or cashier's check. Personal points, or PointCash, are not accepted. Make checks payable to UWSP and include your account number on all payments.

There are several ways to pay your bill. They are:

  • Cash or check payments may be made in person at the Telephone Support Office. Receipts will be given.
  • Credit card/Web check payments can be made on-line. A valid UWSP computer logon and password are required. It may take 24-48 business hours for the payment to appear on your account.
  • Check payments can also be made by first class mail or campus mail. Receipts will not be given. Mail payments to:
    • UWSP Telephone Support Office
      900 Reserve Street, 026 ALB
         Stevens Point, WI 54481

Overdue Bill
All balances are due on the last business day of each month. If you do not pay by the due date your telephone service will be suspended until your balance is paid. If your account is two months overdue, your telephone account will be cancelled and your charges will be turned over to the UWSP Accounts Receivable Office.

Note: The Accounts Receivable Office charges interest and can deny university records (such as transcripts). It will save you money and grief to pay your bill in the Telephone Support Office.

Payment Plans
The Telephone Support Office is willing to help keep your service active. If you cannot pay your balance by the due date, call the Telephone Support Office at 715-346-2562.  Reasonable payment plans will be accepted.
