A receiver is necessary to do polling - IT will place a receiver in your classroom if your room has a seating capacity of 50 or over. If you are interested in using clickers and your classroom seats under 50, consider applying for a mini-technology grant through your College, or talk with your department chair about funding. Also, don't forget to ask your College Support person if there is a receiver already installed in the room.
The software, TurningPoint 2008, is free and can be installed on your office computer from the Network menu. This linked documentation
contains the Network menu path. The documentation also contains information on how you can test your polling presentations in your office without a receiver by using simulated data.
You will need to submit a clicker request form
. The information collected through this form helps us in determining how many clickers we will need for the semester, which rooms will need software and receivers, and in general, helps us in all support aspects.
Students are charged an $8 lease fee to lease a clicker for the semester. Clickers can be leased from UWSP's IT Help Desk. The clicker can then be used in any class that requires clickers. The lease fee is directly applied to the student's tuition bill in the fourth week of the semester.
Below is an example of the information you will want to provide your students.***sample text for your class syllabus***
