Data Backup and Recovery
Data stored on workstations, whether desktop or portable, is
vulnerable to hard drive crashes, viruses and even theft of the device. To
provide additional protection, Information
Technology offers a workstation disaster recovery service to faculty and staff UWSP owned computers. This service is
currently available for Macintosh 10.6-10.9 and Windows campus load computers. Note: This service is not avaialble for personally owned computers.
The system is designed for disaster recovery purposes such as a hard drive
crash, virus infection, theft or malicious activity. The DRS is not intended to
be used for long term archival storage. You should always make copies of your
most important work prior to making changes in case of human error. To help
prevent our storage servers from being filled with unnecessary archival data
please use CD-R or DVD-R media for information you plan to keep indefinitely.
Activating the Backup Service

If you would like a computer removed from the Disaster Recovery Service,
