iPad and Tablet Data Service
The iPad/Tablet data service is administered by the Wisconsin Department of Administration (DOA). For policies and responsibilities, please review the Business Service link on the right side of the page.
Assignment Must be Cost Justified
The DOA policy requires that the additional operating costs of iPad/tablet data service be cost justified and approved by an appropriate University official. Valid justification include: frequent travel; job responsibilities that require the employee to be out of the office for extended periods of time and require mobile communication in order to perform their job duties; employees who are continuously on call.
Data Service Activation:
The iPad/Tablet service is only available on UWSP-owned equipment for business use only. This service requires a six-digit UWSP account. Any equipment or service obtained personally will not be reimbursed by UWSP.
Data Plans Available:
- Verizon Service:
- Unlimited Data Plan - $39.99/month
- 5GB Data Plan - $35.99/month
- 2GB Data Plan - $30.00/month
- AT&T Service:

At this time, UWSP recommends Verizon, due to coverage issues. Unlimited service is also recommended until usage can be determined to avoid overage charges.
Verizon will allow service to be suspended for up to ninety (90) days and can suspend service two (2) times per year for a total of 180 days.
Note: Due to home area issues, data activation requires 7-14 days. If at any point you suspend data service, reactivation will require you to give up your device for a period of 7-14 days.
