Types of Positions

Office Support

Office Support classifications most frequently used at UWSP are Academic Department Associate, Office Operations Associate, Operations Program Associate, Purchasing Associate, University Services Associate and University Services Program Associate.
 
The Office Support exam is usually given every month on a statewide basis at the regional testing centers.  The register established from this exam will be used to fill vacancies in all positions including; Office Associate, University Services Associate 1, Office Operations Associate, Purchasing Associate, University Services Associate 2, Academic Department Associate, Operations Program Associate, Program Assistant Advanced - Confidential, University Services Program Associate. 

Financial Specialist

Financial Specialist vacancies will be announced and interested applicants will need to complete special application & examination materials by the deadline date.  Responses to the exam will be used to determine the eligibility for vacancies.  Those most qualified will be invited to participate in the next step of the selection process.
 

Library Services Assistant

Civil Service exams for Library Services Assistant and Library Services Assistant-Senior classifications are scheduled several times a year on a statewide basis at the regional testing centers. Scheduled exams are announced at www.wisc.jobs.
 

Custodial

UWSP continually accepts applications for Custodian positions. They may be full or part-time positions on 1st or 2nd shift and, may require weekend or holiday hours and occasional shift changes.  You can complete the on line application at:  http://www.uwsp.edu/hr/Pages/Classified-or-LTE-Vacancies.aspx.  This is a random rank process to receive an interview and the applicants must keep their on-line application active every 3 months to be considered for open positions.
 

Maintenance, Grounds and Security

Most often, in these categories, UWSP hires at the entry level, which is Power Plant Operator, Facilities Repair Worker, Facilities Maintenance Specialist, Groundskeeper or Security Officer 1.

Building Trades and Crafts

UWSP employs carpenters, electricians, painters and plumbers.  These positions require a Civil Service exam and the appropriate, approved training and/or experience.  These positions are announced at www.wisc.jobs.
 

Other Permanent Positions

Laboratory Preparation Technician, Electronics Technician, Mechanician, Nurse Clinician and Medical Technologist positions require a Civil Service exam and special skills acquired by training and/or previous experience.  Vacancies are announced at www.wisc.jobs.
 
Professional and paraprofessional positions are in specialized fields such as accounting, personnel, computer programming, or in supervisory positions (custodial supervisor, maintenance supervisor or clerical supervisor.) Vacancies in these positions are announced at www.wisc.jobs.
