Biography
Dr. Annie Wetter received her Bachelor's degree in biology from the University of California at Davis and her doctorate in Nutrition at UW-Madison. Her teaching and research have always melded her twin passions of food and exercise. At UW-Madison she studied the effects of diet and exercise on the aging process, obesity, and type II diabetes. Her post doctoral research at Tufts University in Boston assessed the relationship between lifestyle choices, namely diet and exercise habits, and health risks. She has long served in eating disorders prevention and has begun to research body image in young adults. Her current research is aimed at identifying effective strategies for creating a college campus environment that promotes positive body esteem and healthy lifestyles. Her service to the community aims to move Portage County towards adopting policies and structuring communities that facilitate healthy eating and active living. As an athlete herself, Dr. Wetter has integrated service to athletics into many aspects of her profession. She serves as the Women's Faculty Athletics Representative, speaks to various groups on sports nutrition, and provides individual nutrition counseling to athletes.
