Temporary Health Educator
(32-40 HRS/WK)

For Who: Health Promotion and Human Development graduates.

Purpose:

Anoka County Community Health
& Environmental Services has an immediate opening for a temporary full
time (32-40 hours/week flexible) Health Educator. This position will
work with education efforts in the areas of overweight/obesity, physical
activity, nutrition, employee wellness, tobacco prevention, community
outreach and event planning.


EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)
Provides services to community residents, youth and community agencies
interested in promoting healthy nutrition, healthy physical activity and
tobacco prevention; assists with facilitating community meetings and
strategy sessions with community partners, provides health education and
agency outreach to individuals, groups, and organizations based on
program and/or grant outcomes; serves as a resource to the community and
agency staff on overweight/obesity, physical activity, nutrition,
employee wellness and tobacco prevention; works with other health
education efforts as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in health field or closely related area; or
Bachelor's Degree from a school of nursing accredited by the National League of Nursing; current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Minnesota, plus PHN certification; and one to three years of related experience in public health or highly related area; Master's Degree in health-related field and Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) strongly preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge of: Public Health Education principles and practices; health promotion, material development, youth development and community development strategies; community resources.

Ability to: Direct and guide individuals and community groups; meet and deal with the public; make decisions and exercise independent judgment; demonstrate professional knowledge and behavior.

Skill in: Written and oral communication; computer skills with Microsoft Office.

Must have own transportation for business use (e.g. for meetings, group
activities, outreach, etc.).

Must have a good driving record.
