Jane Wright Abrahamsen Scholarship
Jane Wright Abrahamsen was a native of Mauston who taught home economics at high schools in Ithaca, Wisconsin, and Ironwood, Michigan. She received a three-year home economics degree in 1928 and a bachelor’s degree in home economics education in 1933, both from Stevens Point Normal School. She went on to receive a master’s from UW-Madison in 1936. Jane was active in the Home Economics Club and women’s basketball while at Stevens Point. She taught home economics in the Montgomery County Schools in Maryland for 21 years, earning an outstanding teacher award from the state of Maryland. Her husband, Martin, established this scholarship, which is awarded to outstanding students and new freshmen as measured by evidence of leadership and civic activity.
