Fern Horn Scholarship

 

Fern Horn received her undergraduate degree from UWSP, a Master’s from UW-Stout, and a doctorate from
Michigan State University.  She began her teaching career in rural Clark County in 1934 and later taught high  school Home Economics in Eau Claire, Schofield, and Mosinee.   She taught at UWSP for more than 20 years
and led the development of instructional materials used by Home Economics teachers across the country.  Fern retired from UWSP at the age of 56 because of illness and died of cancer at 62.  This scholarship is awarded based
on academic ability, professional involvement, and plans for work in the field of Family and Consumer Sciences.
