Program
For many, the beauty of Germany is centered in Bavaria. The area is one of the most biker-friendly in Europe. (Of course, the beer, pretzels, and saukraut beckon us to Germany as well!) There are numerous quiet back roads, and paved bike paths are very common. The terrain is generally gently rolling, which will suit recreational bikers, but experienced hill-hounds will find that the Alps are not far away, and they can climb to their heart's content. The pastoral countryside is dotted with onion-domed churches and chateaus whose woodpiles give new definition to the word "neat." Sites include the "Mad Castles" (e.g., Linderhof), the Dachau Concentration Camp, the painted houses and woodcarvers’ haven of Oberammergau, the Andechs Monastery Brewery (world's #1 Beer), and storied Innsbruck in Austria.
