Bring your family & friends out to the 2nd Annual Ciclovia WI on Sept. 29, 2013, from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. This
non-competitive event is a FREE and fun bicycle/pedestrian loop in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Following the lead of similar events in Bogota, Columbia, Portland, NYC, and Madison, this statewide event will include safe
travel throughout a 7 mile loop that runs within the north side of Stevens Point, "Active Rest Stops" such as FREE Zumba and FREE Masala Bhangra, the Kids Zone, a Bike Rodeo, kayaking, food and org. vendors, FREE bike maintenance & demos, a FREE skate jam, disc golfing, slack lines, and more... There's no starting point or ending point so jump on the loop anywhere!
For FREE, participants can join in the fun of travelling this looped route by riding their bike, walking, jogging, pushing a stroller, by wheelchair, skateboarding, rollerblading, etc. It will be a great way to get families out of the house, enjoy a fun and active wellness event, and patronize businesses along the way. Participants will get to experience many of Stevens Point's iconic scenery within Pfiffner Park, Bukolt Park, Stevens Point Sculpture Park, Schmeeckle Reserve, UWSP, the renowned Green Circle Trail, and surrounding neighborhoods... There is no start or finish to the route as it is a loop that anyone can enter at any point along the route
and travel in either direction.
It's important to note that the roads along the route will not be closed to motor vehicle traffic for this event (as with other similar events), except for the Crosby Ave. section near Pfiffner Park. Participants who follow the route on city streets should remain aware of all vehicles and follow all traffic laws to ensure the safety and success of the event. And, to increase the safety of the event there will be Intersection Volunteers, Informational Volunteers, Bike Ambassadors, and Active Rest Stop Volunteers. And, the Stevens Point Police Dept. & Fire/EMS are aware of the route and event details. Yet, as always, we strongly reccommend that bicycle riders wear helmets.
Our 2nd annual event has strong support from the Stevens Point Mayor, the Portage County Executive, SP Police Department, WI Bike Federation, UWSP, and the sponsors and partners listed below...

Bike Rodeo: We have great news! The Stevens Point Police Dept.
and the Sheriff's Office will be teaming up to host a Bike Rodeo for kids! Bike Rodeos are a great way for kids to safely learn how to ride their bicycles. The Bike Rodeo will be located at Pfiffner Park along Crosby Ave. To learn a little more about what a Bike Rodeo is here's a video example.
If your child doesn't have a bicycle that's okay. We'll have extra kids bicycles (ages 4-16 years) available at the Bike Rodeo for any kid that doesn't have a bicycle. Thanks to the Boys & Girls Club, we should have plenty of bicycles for all the kids to use.
Vendors Include: Adventure 212, Divepoint Scuba & Adventure Center, Ministry Sports Medicine, People for Bikes, Point Area Bicycle Service, Portage County P&Z, Portage County Child Passenger Safety, Poky Pedaling Stevens Point, Adventure Tours (UWSP), Outdoor Edventures (UWSP), The Pointer (UWSP), YMCA, Central Rivers Farmshed, Kuschel & Kuschel LLC, WI Bike Fed, Zest Bakery & Coffeehouse, & CPS Cafe. *How fun would it be if kids saw Frankenstein bicycling along the route?
*How fun would it be if a team of corporate employees were spotted walking along the route with
shirts that said something like "Bicycles are my favorite mode of transportation!" or "My bicycle
gets 35 mpg (miles per gyro)." or "I'm walking... how about you?"
