Catherine Hassemer, Deconstruction Study Artist's Narrative This was the deconstruction study in Susan Morrison's life drawing class. This piece started as many quick sketches and paintings of the model layered on top of each other. Eventually the figure became shapes and colors that melded together, almost taking the figure apart and looking at it in different perspectives all at once, or eliminating the figure all together. It has movement and vibrance, and lets the viewer question what is really there. It is executed on brown paper with tempera paint, charcoal, pastel, and chalk.
