Christine M. Rohde, Transcending. Transcending is a video dance and original work choreographed, directed, produced, and edited by Christine Rohde; performed by Amanda Queen; with music selection: Songs from A Secret Garden-Dawn of a New Century, “In Our Tears”, composed by Rolf Lovland. Teacher and mentor, Joan Karlen, through Dance 496-Interdisciplinary Seminar, exposed the medium of movement through the eye of the camera. Transcending was created through a process of conceiving an idea, storyboarding, choreographing movement and preparing the dancer for the movement and theme, filming on location, recording and editing with the use of Adobe Premiere on the computer, all to transform the mental image into the visual image. The work’s theme portrays the uncovering and acceptance of truth within an individual, and the struggle of change that must be transcended to live on. Change is the element of the journey in our lives. The choice of awareness within the moment, beyond the past, creates an enhanced way of life. |
