award.
The following criteria are utilized in selecting recipients:
- Excellence of Performance

- Outstanding Achievement
The Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education was established
by the Wisconsin state legislature and UWSP in 1991. The
Center was placed in the College of Natural Resources, but has a
statewide mission toward the development, promotion and evaluation
of environmental education in Wisconsin K-12 schools.
The WCEE's commitment to excellence is described by its
nominators:
- "In addition to serving Wisconsin residents, the WCEE can
claim the outstanding achievement of being a national and
international model for the development of environmental
education."
- "Never content to rest on its laurels, the WCEE has
continued to develop innovative programs and offer the foremost
support to the field of environmental education through the
development of excellent resources, much-needed online courses
and - perhaps most importantly - the sharing of expertise
throughout the country and the world."
- "Partnerships and other collaboration are a hallmark of the
Center. WCEE staff and programs are involved at many
levels with: the Wisconsin Association for Environmental
Education, the Wisconsin Environmental Education Board, the
Wisconsin Environmental Education Foundation, Wisconsin Focus on
Energy, the Wisconsin DNR Division of Forestry, and many
others."
- "The WCEE faculty and staff have worked endlessly to
establish outreach opportunities for Wisconsin's teachers and
youth."
- "Recently, an Environmental Science Teachers Network has
been created by the Center and now serves to connect hundreds of
teachers around the state and region who previously were without
this assistance."
