Student Instructions

You should have the following materials before starting on the Indian Peaks Virtual Field Trip:

To complete the Indian Peaks Virtual Field Trip first read the introductory page which gives you background on the physical environment of the Front Range. Begin your virtual excursion by examining the field trip map. After viewing the map, go to the first site via the link at the bottom of the page or by clicking on the red number 1 on the map. You can jump immediately to any site by clicking on a site number. At the top of each site page you'll find a picture of the site with descriptive information. At each site page there is a link to more detailed information about the unique physical characteristics of the site. Make sure to follow these links as you are likely to obtain information to include in your field journal.

Near the bottom of each site page there will be a field journal entry and set of environmental data highlighted in blue. Make sure to copy the data into your journal for later use. Navigational links are provided at the bottom of each page should you get lost and need to get back to a particular site.

At the end of the trip you will create a graph showing the relationship between elevation, temperature and vegetation and answer a set of questions about what you saw along the field trip. Instructions for creating the graph are provided on the "Wrap-Up" page at the end of the field trip.
