Ordovician - Prairie du Chien Group

The Prairie du Chien Group consists of thick, often scarp-forming dolostones. In the western part of the state it occurs as river bluffs and resistant caps on hilltops. Note how the overall outcrop pattern of the Prairie du Chien outlines the Wisconsin Arch.
