Preparing for Exercise 2
Radiation and Energy Balance at the Surface of the Earth

In part 1 of exercise 2, "Radiation and Energy Balance at the Surface of the earth", you'll explore how the inputs and outputs of radiation are affected by season of the year. You'll compare and contrast two locations to see what impact environmental conditions created during the summer and winter have on the radiation balance of a place. In part 2 you'll compare and contrast latent and sensible heat fluxes for three distinctly different climates.

Before coming to lab....

Before getting started on the exercise, review your lecture notes for "Radiation and Energy Balance" and bring them to lab. Carefully read through all the introductory material for Lab 2 in the lab manual. Answers to some of the questions can be gleaned from a thorough reading. Don't forget to bring a calculator.
