TOP TEN REASONS FOR NOT TAKING GEOLOGY 1OO

#1.  You're hoping for a grammar school approach to learning science.

The term "grammar" refers not only to language but to the basic principles of an
area of knowledge.  In traditional education, students learned grammar (such as
arithmetic, rules of language, facts of history, etc.) during their first six years of
schooling so that they would be ready for more advanced learning thereafter.

Memorizing "facts" about geology is fine for grammar school but hardly qualifies
as a college-level learning experience.  I take your ability to memorize facts as a
given, and I am much more interested in developing your critical thinking skills.
