GROUP DISCUSSIONS GRADING POLICY

Each group member who participates in the discussion at least once by the deadline for submittal will receive one point, regardless of whether the answers submitted by the group facilitator are correct or not.

To receive up to one additional point, the answers submitted by the group facilitator must either be correct or "acceptable".

How does an incorrect answer qualify as an "acceptable" answer?

        (1)  It must be logical and reasonable.

        (2)  It must not violate any of the "rules" for scientific hypotheses outlined in Lecture 1

        (3)  It must not ignore or contradict information provided in the textbook or in lectures.

(A point rubric for the evaluation of  discussions appears at the bottom of this page)

Group Facilitators:

        (1)  This is a rotating role: each group member takes two turns during the semester as facilitator.

        (2)  The facilitator summarizes all of the group input in a final submittal under the same thread.
