Biographical Information
I grew up in Summit, New Jersey (about 30 miles due west of New York City) and Landisville, Pennsylvania during the Paleozoic Era, just after the earth's crust had hardened. I also have family ties in New England, where I spent many holidays and vacations. This is one of the reasons that I attended undergraduate school in the beautiful state of Vermont, where I developed my interests in geology and hiking in the mountains. I went to Penn State University for my masters degree and worked one year as a consulting geologist before returning to academia at SUNY-Binghamton (now Binghamton University). After receiving my doctorate, I taught one year at Lafayette College in Easton, PA before arriving in Stevens Point, where I have lived for the past 20 years.
On a more personal note, I am
married and have
two sons. I am also a Christian,
which means that I strive to follow Jesus Christ. Although I do not always
succeed in this endeavor, I would hope that my interactions with students
reflect His perfect blend of truth and grace.
