| Here are four views of Site 2. Trees are the dominant type of plant here, and white pine appears to be the dominant species. Other species include oaks (you can tell because they don't drop their leaves, even though the leaves are brown), maples (we figured this out by clearing away some snow and examining the litter layer) and a few birch. Michael, who is in the first photo, is approximately 6 feet tall. Use Michael as a guide to estimate the tree heights. The second photo probably is best for judging the understory. | |
