Stop Number 1 - March 12, 1998

Here are two views of the area surrounding the shelter building, March 12, 1998. The first view is what we see as we approach the building from the trail (actually, the picture was taken just off the trail to the west).

There is a hill to the right side of the shelter, and the second photo was taken from part-way up the hill. We've just had a snowstorm, so the vegetation is somewhat obscured. Take notes on the area surrounding the shelter building using the enlarged photo below.
