To take full advantage of this site, you need to have the Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. This is free from Adobe. You also need to have the Shockwave plugin, which is free from Macromedia. This site is best viewed with Netscape 4.5. Each of the links below will open a new window; close these extra windows when you are finished.
This field trip is structured such that "stops" contain activities to complete, and "hikes" are animations with slides and commentary on the landscape being traversed. If you do not want to visit all the stops, or watch all the animations, you may select only those features you want from the "Trip Itinerary" page. Each "hike" and each "stop" is linked on the topographic map and as text links below the map. Thus, you may work through the stops and hikes in sequential order following the links at the bottom of each "stop" or "hike" page, or you may return to the "Itinerary" page after each stop or hike and select what you want to do next.
There are question sheets to go with the activities you select (or have been assigned). These answer sheets are listed on the Supporting Materials page. Before starting your trip, print the question sheets you need to complete your assignment.
