Severe Weather "WARNING":   The authorities issue a warning when confirmed severe weather IS approaching or HAS BEEN sighted in the immediate area. IMMEDIATELY seek shelter when these weather sirens sound.

Protective Services contacts designated phone numbers through an AUDIX Emergency Broadcast, with recorded information about the WARNING: [numbers vary by building]

Note: AUDIX message light flashes, but phone does not ring. Message also goes to all staff via e-mail.

Receptionists notify all employees, students, and guests within their units, directly or by Autodial, to move to shelter at lowest elevation. MOVE AWAY FROM WINDOWS AND WIDE-SPAN ROOFS!!!

Note: Phones lacking AUDIX cannot receive this notification!

All UWSP personnel move themselves and students/guests to interior spaces. Lock offices and close windows only if safety permits. Go to lower floors if possible. All Personnel Upon alert and during any warning

If you can, bring a battery-powered radio with you, and go to the lowest safe place. Monitor local stations for warning updates. Please do NOT call Protective Services for weather information. Unit Receptionists During a WARNING

Remain in the LOWEST place possible until personally infrormed that the warning is cancelled, UNLESS flooding occurs (then leave when you judge it safe). Everyone
