Draw Tab Functions

[BACK]

The draw tab has many functions, the most obvious being annotation.  You may have wondered how I got the little flag with label at the Science Building; the point symbol button does this, and also allows control over the font style, size, and color.  You can also move a point symbol either by drag-and-drop on the main map, or by editing the coordinate specification on the point palette.

Annotations save into separate draw files (.an1) in the draw subfolder.

The line button not only allows you to draw lines, but if you check the Show Measurements box it will also provide the vector of the lines you are drawing.  (The button with the arrowhead is the select button; if you select an earlier line it provides the same vector information, as you see below.)

The polygon button (shape icon) allows a choice of measurable polygons.  In SAR the circle and the rectangle are most useful, as you frequently receive instructions like "check everything within a 300 m radius of the Science Building...", as in the example below.  As before, you can reposition; a circle by editing the center coordinates, or a rectangle by drag-and-drop.

The draw tab also includes a transfer function for waypoints, either TO ("upload") or FROM ("download") a GPS receiver or another PC.  Use the Exchange button on the far right side of the draw panel to access this.  You must use DataSend cables and software, and have pre-set (through the GPS tab) the receiver make and baud (transmission) rate to 4800 for this function to work.  For transferring entire tracks there is a similar function using the route tabs exchange button.
