PROJECT DESIGN

TERM PROJECT: Each student will contribute to the conduct and presentation a COLLABORATIVE biogeography field investigation, which will be "Determining Local Distributions of Rhamnus spp. [Buckthorn]." Work as teams of two or three persons.

Each team will investigate a study site that I assign.  You will receive instruction about the data types and collection procedures during the second and third week of the course; you may if necessary collect additional data later in the semester. All information from each team's site investigation will be available for all teams subsequent analysis of this species' local presence.

Write up your findings as a team report, convert it into an electronic presentation that includes analysis of at least one original (team-created) map, and present the project report to the class within fifteen minutes during one of the last sessions of the semester (including the final exam period scheduled for 10:30 on Monday, December 17th). Your attendance is required at ALL presentations, whether you are presenting or not.

[BACK]

YOUR PROJECT TEAM MUST SUBMIT ITS TERM PROJECT (including all graphics) IN DIGITAL FORMAT via the server "drop box" at \\GeoDept1\Classes\Geog358\[team name]. Do NOT submit a "hard" (paper) copy of your project; do NOT send the report as an e-mail attachment.

You must be rigorous in proper citation format for all outside references in the report AND the presentation. This includes references to external web sites; see Walker's guide for proper URL citation format. You may present quotes or images from external sites ONLY if you properly cite them.

The checklist that I will use to evaluate your work in this course appears below; use it as a guide to structuring your project report.
