Scyphozoan Medusae
Scyphozoan Medusae, more commonly known as "jellyfish" are mobile soft-bodies floaters. Lacking hard parts, jellyfish are rarely preserved. Nevertheless, in rare instances, jellyfish have been preserved, such as in the Middle Cambrian Bright Angel Shale. However, few examples of Cambrian jellyfish exist. Krukowski Quarry in Mosinee, Wisconsin contains the finest example of a mass stranding of medusae. These stranded jellyfish, preserved in the Late Cambrian Mt. Simon and Wonewoc Sandstones, are one of only two known preserved examples; the second locality if in New Brunswick, Canada (Hagadorn, Dott and Damrow, 2002).
