Search Engines


An Internet search engine is a is a program which allows a user to find information, typically by entering key words or phrases.  Different search engines have different strengths and weaknesses.  Try various search programs to see which ones suit your needs.

  11. Infoseek -- part of the GO network 

  12. LookSmart 

  13. Lycos 

  14. Magellan -- part of Excite, Inc.

  16. The Phoenix Gate -- can search through any one of 28 search engines 

  17. ProFusion -- lets you search through any or all of nine major search engines at once ***

  24. WhoWhere? -- a way to find people on the Web (part of Lycos network)
