Jon Galloy
Jon Galloy is a
native of Tomahawk, Wisconsin and a 2010 graduate from the University of
Wisconsin-Stevens Point with a B.S. in Geography with a Physical
Geography option and GIS/Cartographic option. He also has a Geographic
Information Systems and Spatial Analysis minor. Jon also shared the
Geography and Geology Department’s Academic Honor Award given to the
graduating geography major with the highest GPA in departmental courses.
Like many students at UWSP today, Jon was a non-traditional student who
returned to UWSP after a 16 year career as a printer/pressman. He
developed an interest in the GIS program due to the influence of two
childhood friends who were successful graduates of the GIS program at
UWSP.
Jon is currently
employed with the UWSP GIS Center under the direction of Doug Miskowiak
as a GIS Technician. Past projects include the “Citizen Assessment of
Critical Habitats and Priority Shorelines 2010” in conjunction with The
Grindstone Lake Association, conducted in the summer of 2010. Jon also
developed, within the ESRI Flexviewer framework, an on-line application
to allow stakeholders in the Grindstone Lake project the ability to
interactively view project results, data and maps. Current projects
include site analysis of aquaculture facilities within the state of
Wisconsin and the development of a predictive model that will guide
future aquaculture site selection.
