The International Club

The International Club is one of the largest student organizations at UWSP. Its purpose is to promote and encourage an exchange of culture between and among nations by providing opportunities for friendship, understanding, and the social interest of members. ACTIVITIES

International Club activities are characterized by cultural, educational, and social components.

MEETINGS

Meetings are held on the second Friday of every month during the academic year. Agenda for each gathering usually include a business meeting, guest speakers and/or students presenting on their countries, and a social hour.

INTERNATIONAL DINNER AND ENTERTAINMENT

The International Dinner and Entertainment, held annually in the spring semester, is one of the most important activities of the International Club. This highly successful venture provides an opportunity for International and American students to prepare exotic dishes and entertain adventurous dinner guests.

ORIENTATION

The International Club works closely with the Foreign Student Office in planning the fall and spring new student orientations. Club members participate in panel discussions, lead campus tours, and give presentations on topics ranging from how to cash checks to living in the residence halls.

PORTAGE COUNTY CULTURAL FESTIVAL

The Portage County Cultural Festival provides an opportunity for international students and International Club members to bring a "slice of the world" to the community via food, entertainment, hands-on activities, exhibits, cultural movies, and arts and crafts sales. This one-day event attracts more than 10,000 people annually from the campus, the community and the Central Wisconsin area.
