FAQ
I cannot give a large donation. Will my small donation help the
university?
We welcome your donation of any amount. All gifts add up quickly. In
fact, gifts of under $100 annually total nearly $200,000.
What is an endowed fund?
An endowed fund is created by investing funds and using the earnings to
support a program or scholarship on campus. The minimum to start an
endowment is $10,000, but you can fund a future growth fund with smaller
contributions over a period of ten years. Endowment funds are often used
to support student scholarships, provide additional funds to programs
and departments, and help with essential services to students. This
support is critical to the quality of our programs and services and
helps keep a UWSP education affordable to many.
How can I find out if my
employer matches my donation?
What is the difference between a restricted and unrestricted gift?
A targeted donation is used to support a specific program or scholarship
designated by the donor. A general donation is used where the need is
the greatest on campus.
What does the UWSP Foundation do?
We secure financial support from individuals, corporations, and
foundations, award student scholarships every year, and
distribute money in program support to the campus. Foundation staff processes, receipts, and acknowledges all
donations. We provide accounting support for over 400 funds, managing assets of over $17 million. We also conduct
the annual campaign that brings in approximately a half million dollars
each year. Our staff provides resources, support, and leadership for all
fundraising efforts on campus.
