INTERMEDIATE & ADVANCED SKILLS COURSES

313 FRENCH, GERMAN, SPANISH (fall semester)
Intermediate Conversation. 3 crs. Prereq: 212 or by placement exam. Through an emphasis on oral and listening activities, including authentic video, students focus on strategies for conversation and communication. Writing activities will reinforce conversational topics. A comprehensive grammar review is part of the course.

314 FRENCH, GERMAN, SPANISH (spring semester)
Intermediate Composition. 3 crs. Prereq: 212 or by placement exam. Focus is on developing writing skills, while continuing the practice of understanding and communication skills. A comprehensive grammar review is part of the course.

317 FRENCH, GERMAN, SPANISH (alternate years)
Advanced Conversation and Composition. 3 crs. Prereq: 313 and 314 or by placement exam. Students normally do not take this course until after completing 340. Advanced work in oral and written communication using authentic material. A comprehensive grammar review is part of the course.

318 FRENCH, GERMAN, SPANISH (alternate years)
French (German, Spanish) for the Professions. 3 crs. Prereq: 313 and 314 or consent of chair. A general knowledge of communication skills associated with professions for example, reading and writing business letters and working with business related documents. Special emphasis is given to cultural differences between the United States and other countries.

320 FRENCH, GERMAN, SPANISH (spring semester/alternate yrs)
Phonetics and Diction. 3 crs. Prereq: 212 or by placement exam. Required for Teacher Certification. This course aims to improve your pronunciation and diction and enables prospective teachers to give effective guidance to students. It includes comparison of the phonetics of the target language with English.
