FOREIGN LANGUAGE CLUBS
Students of foreign language have organized clubs which meet regularly and offer a variety of activities. These provide an excellent opportunity to get to know your fellow students and faculty members. The clubs also sponsor language tables which meet on a weekly/biweekly basis for informal conversation. The following are links to the clubs available to you:

SALSA
Student Alliance for Latino Studies and Advancement

Spanish Club
¡Bienvenidos al Club de Espaol!

German Club
For anyone interested in the German language, no matter how much (or how little) experience you have.

International Club
The International Club is to promote and encourage an exchange of culture throughout the nations by providing opportunities for friendship, understanding and the social interests of its members.

French Club/Cercle Français
The club takes what students learn in their French courses beyond the classroom walls and offers possibilities to enjoy using the language or learning about the culture in entertaining and informational projects without the pressure of grades.  The club is all-inclusive any interested student may join by sending his/her name and email address to an officer or the adviser (Professor Marcia Parker).  The purpose is to bring students together who like learning the French language, discovering francophone cultures, and practicing the language while having fun with friends.  The activities encourage people to continue their language study.  Some activities include la Tchatche (conversation time), holiday celebrations, games, movies, excursions to plays, restaurants and museums.  The club also raises money to provide a small scholarship for a student to study on the UWSP semester in France, sponsors information sessions for students interested in studying in France, organizes career discussions, and sometimes hosts the regional French speaking contest or teaches French to an elementary or head-start class.  Activities each year depend on the interests expressed by students in the club.

LANGUAGE & CULTURAL HOUSE
The Language & Cultural House, located in Baldwin Hall, brings the language you are studying alive with the help of native speakers from abroad, who serve as resident assistants and organize informal cultural and social activities.

AWARDS AND HONORS
Each year at the Department awards ceremony, students receive awards, honors, and are initiated into Alpha Mu Gamma, the national honor society for foreign languages.

FACILITIES
The Department maintains a Language Laboratory and Materials Center in the Collins Classroom Center, Room 305. The laboratory is open daily for students in all courses to work with various materials including audio, video and multi-media computer programs as well as reading materials from abroad.

At the University Library you will find a collection of current foreign language magazines and newspapers, feature length foreign films and videocassettes.

FINANCIAL AID
The Department employs 5-8 students eligible for financial assistance thru the Financial Aids Office. Student assistants work 10-15 hours per week primarily in the language lab. Majors in a foreign language are preferred to assist beginning and intermediate students with tutoring.
