CONFERENCE TOUR Wednesday, September 27, Cost $70

OAK MANAGEMENT PRACTICES IN CENTRAL WISCONSIN

The Conference Tour will leave the Holiday Inn and Convention Center at 12:00 Noon and return at approximately 9:00pm.  Participants will have the opportunity to see how oak is managed in central Wisconsin and the challenges that face forest managers.  Stops will feature regeneration, stand tending, thinning and harvesting methodology on mesic, dry-mesic, and dry sites. 

Includes box lunch, dinner, and transportation.

Pre and Post Conference Tours Combine an Oak Technical Program with Cultural Aspects of Wisconsin

Pre-Conference 3-day Field Tour of Northern Wisconsin, September 21-23.  Cost $500

Tour leaves Holiday Inn and Convention Center at 8:00 am on Thursday, September 21 and returns to the Holiday Inn and Convention Center on Saturday, September 23 at 5:00 pm

Includes all meals (except Thursday breakfast and Saturday Dinner), transportation, lodging, and entrance fees.

Field stops feature oak management and research in northern Wisconsin, program at the Northern Great Lakes Visitor's Center, a boat tour of the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, and ecology of Copper Falls State Park.

Post-Conference 3 day Field Tour of Southern Wisconsin, September 28-30.  Cost $500 (Cancelled. If you have already registered and scheduled flights other tour arrangements will be made and fees adjusted.)

Tour leaves Holiday Inn and Convention Center at 8:00 am on Thursday, September 28and returns to the Holiday Inn and Convention Center on Saturday, September 30 at 6:30 pm

Includes all meals (except Thursday breakfast and Saturday Dinner), transportation, lodging, and entrance fees.

Field stops feature oak savanna restoration, oak regeneration, oak research at Coulee Experimental Forest, Frank Loyld Wright's House Tour, and tour of Aldo Leopold's Shack


  • Fall coloration should be at its peak at the time of these Field Tours/Excursions

  • The weather during both field tours is likely to be cool with average high temperatures around 62oF to a low of 40oF (17o/40C).  Hiking shoes, clothes that can be layered for warmth and rain gear are advised.
