International Education Scholarship
Take advantage of these great opportunities

UW- Stevens Point has many opportunities for studying abroad. Which international direction do you want to go?

Check out the International Programs Dept. website.

Munich, Germany

UW-Stevens Point and the State of Wisconsin have developed special scholarships to encourage student participation in another country. The idea is simple-- helping students experience another culture broadens their perspective and enables them to see themselves as global citizens. The student gains new knowledge about the world and the State of Wisconsin gains a more informed individual that is better able to see the merits of a variety of viewpoints. Wisconsin has always been a progressive state, and this is just another example of the "new idea" thinking that helps keep Wisconsinites out front leading the way. Paris, France

If you've been directed to this web page via our e-mail invitation, that is very good news indeed because you have been selected to receive one of these scholarships to help finance the minimal additional cost involved in studying for a semester in another country in one of UWSP's premier international programs. Read on to learn more about this opportunity and the programs we are making available to you.

A Special UWSP Tradition

We are very proud of our international programs at UWSP-- they enjoy a fine reputation of being exceedingly well administered. UWSP has the highest proportion of students attending in programs of study abroad in the entire UW system. Unlike many programs sponsored by other institutiuons, our programs are tailored to give the student exposure to as many field experiences as possible-- such as visits to other countries and important sites and opportunities for cultural growth through the arts. Each of our programs has one or more faculty group leaders involved to guide you along and attend to your needs. We make it easy for you to relax and enjoy yourself while studying in an entirely new environment. Virtually every returning program participant says the same thing-- "It's the best thing I ever did!"

The Scholarship Program Details

UWSP is awarding about $77,000 annually in scholarships to students wishing to study abroad that can show a need. Students are selected to participate in the scholarship program if they are carrying a full time academic load, have a grade point average of at least 2.25, have above-average educational indebtedness for their class level, and have an assessed family contribution that is less than the standard resident on-campus budget. We are making awards in various amounts depending on the program involved-- from $500 for some short programs up to $2,000 for some more expensive semester programs.

All you have to do to claim the scholarship is complete an International Programs Application Form and visit the International Programs Office to learn more about which particular program would be best for you. Counselors there can help you make your program choice and fill you in on the details about all the opportunities that are available.
