Grants and Waivers
Federal Pell Grant (Pell)
Eligibility is determined by the U.S. Department of Education. The
specific award amount depends upon credit load, residency, and
whether the student lives on or off campus or with parents. If any
of these factors change, an award adjustment may be necessary. The
student receives a Student Aid Report (SAR) after applying, directly
sent from the U.S. Department of Education. The SAR can be used to
make corrections to incorrect data. The corrected form can either be
sent to the Federal Student Aid Program processor (address on form)
or turned into the UWSP Financial Aid Office, where we are equipped
to make corrections on the student's behalf. This grant is only for
undergraduate students.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
Eligibility is determined by the University according to federal
rules that tie the grant to Pell Grant eligibility and low level of
assessed family contribution. This grant is only for undergraduate
students.
Wisconsin Higher Education Grant (WHEG)
Eligibility is determined by a State of Wisconsin agency based upon
Wisconsin residency, need, and fund availability. This grant is only
for undergraduate students.
Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)

Non-Resident Fee Waiver (NRFW)
Eligibility is based upon high need of non-resident students.

against the student's bill.
Talent Incentive Tip (TIP)
Eligibility is limited to financially disadvantaged students and
arranged through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
This grant is only for undergraduate students.
Wisconsin Indian Assistance (WIA)
Eligibility is based upon need. Students must have at least 1/4
Native American blood. The award is arranged through a State of
Wisconsin agency and is usually matched by an equal or greater
amount of grant assistance from the student's tribe.
Tribal Education Grant (TEG)
For Native American students, the amount is actually awarded by the
student's tribe based upon information provided from the Financial
Aid Office regarding the student's financial need. The tribe
determines the award when an Indian Scholarship Form is submitted to
them.
Lawton Minority Retention Grant (LMRG)
These awards are made to Wisconsin and Minnesota undergraduate
minority students with at least sophomore standing and a 2.00 GPA.
Academic Fee Increase Grant (AFIG)
The tuition increase grant program provides grants up to the actual
dollar increase in base tuition to students whose family income is
less than $60,000 and who do not receive a Wisconsin Higher
Education Grant. A grant may not exceed the amount of a student's
unmet need, and students must be registered at least half time in
order to receive a grant.
Department of Vocational Rehabilitation Grant (DVR)
For physically-challenged students, the amount awarded is determined
by the Wisconsin Department of Vocational Rehabilitation based upon
information provided by the Financial Aid Office regarding the
student's financial need and other aid awarded. Students must apply
directly at the district DVR Office. The Financial Aid Office will
estimate the student's DVR grant eligibility before awarding loans
and adjust the estimate when the final award is made by the DVR
office.
