Dates and Deadlines for Financial Aid
January 1st - New FAFSA is available
Next year’s Free Application for Financial Aid (
FAFSA) is available online. Paper copies are available here at UW-Stevens Point, but also at other high schools and colleges as well. File your FAFSA as soon as you complete your taxes.
March (early) - Award letters
The Financial Aid Office begins sending award letters to new freshmen.
April 15th - Tax Deadline
The tax deadline with the IRS is April 15th. Keep copies of your tax documents, which may be needed by the Financial Aid Office.
May (early) - Award letters to continuing students
Financial Aid Award letters for upcoming summer, fall, and spring are mailed to applicants after their registration is completed for summer and fall.
August (early) - Stafford Loan certification and School Bill
Stafford loan certifications for Stafford loan borrowers are transmitted to Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation. School billing statements for fall are mailed from the school business office with the payment plan information.
September (early) - Credit and Refund
Fall financial aid is credited to your account and any refunds will be available within a day or two.
