Dates and Deadlines for Financial Aid
January 1st - New FAFSA is Available
Next year’s Free Application for Financial Aid (
FAFSA)
is available online. File your FAFSA as soon as you complete your
taxes.
March - Award letters
The Financial Aid Office begins sending award letters to new
freshmen.
March 15 - Priority Completion Date for FAFSA
Continuing applicants are recommended to submit their FAFSA data
on or before March 15 to be considered in the initial awarding
process.
April 15th - Tax Deadline
The tax deadline with the IRS is April 15th. Keep copies of your tax
documents as they may be needed by the Financial Aid Office.
May - Award Letters to Continuing Students
Financial Aid Award letters for the upcoming summer, fall, and
spring are emailed to applicants.
May 15 - UWSP Financial Aid
Application Deadline
Financial Aid applications are processed on a weekly basis
throughout the year. However, it is important to complete all
application requirements prior to May 15 preceding the award year to
be considered for all types of assistance available. After this
date, some funds may be depleted. This is UWSP's deadline to
complete the FAFSA and, if needed, the verification requirements.
August - Stafford Loan Certification and School Bill
Stafford loan certifications for Stafford loan borrowers are
transmitted to Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation. School
billing statements for fall are sent from the school business office
with the payment plan information.
September (early) - Credit and Refund
Fall financial aid is credited to your account and any refunds will
be available within a day or two. You may sign up for direct deposit
on your myPoint.
January (mid) - Credit and Refund
Spring financial aid is credited to your account and any refunds
will be available within a day or two. You may sign up for direct
deposit on your myPoint.
