Financial Aid

(ACG) and (SMART) Grants

Academic Competitiveness Grants (ACG) & National Science and Math Access To Retain Talent Grant (SMART)
Awarding of ACG and SMART grants will not begin prior to July at UWSP. These program awards will not appear on the original financial aid award letters or notifications for those students notified earlier than this date. If you have been offered an ACG or a SMART grant by another institution, you will also be awarded one at UWSP when a final determination can be made on your eligibility.
Eligibility for both of the ACG and SMART programs are performance based.

-Incoming ACG candidates must complete specific curriculum or testing requirements. Until your final high school transcript is received, it would be difficult to make a final determination.

-Continuing ACG candidates must maintain a 3.00 GPA to have their grant renewed. Final grades for the spring semester are not posted until late May or early June, preventing timely awarding of renewal ACG grants.

-Initial SMART grant candidates must declare and enroll in coursework leading to specific majors. In addition, they must maintain a 3.00 GPA to be eligible for a SMART grant. Final grades for the spring semester are not posted until late May or early June, preventing timely awarding of initial SMART grants.

-Continuing SMART grant candidates must maintain their enrollment and register for coursework leading to specific majors. In addition, they must maintain a 3.00 GPA to remain eligible for a SMART grant. Final grades for the spring semester are not posted until late May or early June, preventing timely awarding of initial SMART grants.
