Financial Aid News

Effective Immediately: Federal regulations have changed regarding the Alternative (private) loan application and disbursement process. If applying for an alternative loan, click here for further information to review the Alternative Loan section.

College Financial Advisory Precaution: Never pay a fee to determine whether you are eligible for financial aid. The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is the only application form used by UWSP to determine financial aid eligibility. Likewise, reputable scholarship organizations do not charge a fee to determine your eligibility. The Better Business Bureau (BBB) has received complaints regarding the College Financial Advisory. For more information, click here.

M&I Borrowers: If you are a continuing student who uses M&I as a lender for your Stafford loan and it has not yet been applied to your account, you may need to complete a new Master Promissory Note with Nelnet or call the service provider at 1-877-804-3603.

US Bank Borrowers: After September 26, 2009, new Master Promissory Notes, selecting a different lender, will be required on Stafford loan certifications.

Remember to file your 2009-2010 FAFSA online. UWSP school code: 003924
