University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point shall implement and operate a resource recovery program.  The program shall be consistent with good environmental practices and meet or exceed all national, state and local laws, regulations and ordinances. 

The goals of University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point�s resource recovery program shall be: 

1. To reduce consumption of recyclable and non-recyclable materials through wise procurement practices.

2. To reuse existing materials in creative ways.

3. To recycle material allowed by current technology.

4. To meet or exceed all state laws for recycling percentages and time of compliance.

5. To involve all students, employees, and contractors of the campus community in the recycling effort.

6. To seek cost efficient means for accomplishing these goals.

The general purpose of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point resource recovery effort shall be:

1.  To comply with Wisconsin Act 335.

2. To conserve natural resources and provide materials for manufacturing and remanufacturing.

3. To encourage the purchase of recycled materials by individuals, departments, and other units of UW-Stevens Point.

University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point waste and resource recovery policy prohibits faculty, staff, students, nonresident students, contractors, guests of UW-Stevens Point and residents of the community from removing materials from recycle and waste containers or storage areas for personal gain.  Nor is it permissible for faculty, staff, students, nonresident students, contractors, guests of UW-Stevens Point, and residents of the community to utilize the resource recovery program for personal use.

Contractors of UW-Stevens Point are encouraged to participate in the resource recovery program in conjunction with contracted projects and services.  Contractors are responsible for properly preparing and delivering recyclable materials to the Resource Recovery Center.   Contractors are prohibited from using university dumpsters to dispose of waste.
