Student Move In

Fall residence hall move in typically occurs during Labor Day weekend.  All new students are required to move in on Saturday; returning students on Sunday.

In order to accommodate the volume of packing materials tents are erected for boxes and polystyrene packing materials.  Snow fencing is placed around the exterior perimeter of the tents to contain boxes and packing materials.  The tents also help protect in the event of rain.

Entrances to the residence halls are signed to inform students where to place flattened boxes and packing materials.   Dumpsters are also signed to direct the placement of cardboard under the tents.

Vehicle traffic on streets surrounding the campus and service drives is congested.  Traffic, if it is able to move, is at a snails pace.

Approximately 10-15 tons of cardboard is generated during the three day fall move in.   Extra dumpsters are also ordered to accommodate waste.
